A weak low-pressure system is affecting the area. This cyclone, called ADEL, is centered in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s expected to move to the Northern Aegean on Saturday and head northeast, impacting Cyprus mainly from Saturday afternoon.
Today, we might see some isolated showers in the northern and eastern coastal areas. Local fog and low clouds, mostly inland, will clear up soon. By noon, the weather will be partly cloudy, with a chance of isolated showers in the east and northwest, maybe even an isolated thunderstorm. Winds will start off light and variable at 3 Beaufort. They will soon shift to southwest and northwest, while in the eastern part of the island, they’ll be northeast to southeast, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach about 23 degrees Celsius inland and on the west and northern coasts, around 24 on the southern and eastern coasts, and about 11 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, we can expect more clouds, bringing isolated showers mainly in the eastern and northern coastal areas. Later on, during dawn, we might see some fog or mist forming inland and in the east. Winds will mostly blow from northwest to northeast and from southeast along the northern coasts, light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 11 degrees Celsius inland, about 13 on the coasts, and around 5 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Thursday, we can expect more clouds at times with some isolated showers. There’s a chance of an isolated thunderstorm mainly in mountainous areas, the east, and northwest. On Friday, we’ll see more mid and high clouds at intervals, with some dust possibly hanging in the air.
On Saturday, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely starting from the afternoon.
Temperatures until Saturday will gradually rise a bit above average for this time of year.
