The murder case of 49-year-old businessman Stavros Demosthenous, who was killed in October 2025, is in court today. Six people are facing serious charges.
The accused include two 30-year-olds, a 31-year-old, a 51-year-old, and two 28-year-olds. They face charges like premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a felony and murder, arson, and illegal possession and use of weapons and explosives.
The case started with two separate indictments. The two 28-year-olds were arrested in Thessaloniki under a European warrant. Later, the cases were combined so all defendants could be tried together.
Evidence suggests that one of the 30-year-olds bought the motorcycle used for the escape. The other 30-year-old, already in custody for another case, allegedly directed actions from Central Prisons.
The 31-year-old is said to have driven the vehicle used in the attack and helped secure fake license plates. Genetic material from the 51-year-old was found in a vehicle that monitored the victim.
The two 28-year-olds are seen as key players in carrying out the crime and helping the perpetrators escape.
The trial starts in the morning and is expected to draw a lot of attention.
