An 80-year-old farmer from the community of Lasa, in the district of Chrysochous, Paphos, met a tragic end today when he was crushed by the agricultural tractor he was driving under circumstances that are currently under investigation.
The scene has been cordoned off by the Police, whose members are looking into the conditions surrounding this fatal incident.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Nicolaou, the 80-year-old had gone to his orchard in the morning and had not returned home by noon. A relative then searched for him along the routes he typically takes and found him dead in a three-meter deep ravine beside a rural road.
The unfortunate man, Mr. Nicolaou stated, was trapped under his tractor and was extricated by the Fire Service. The forensic service is expected to determine the timing of the necessary autopsy on his body, he noted.
