An 80-year-old farmer from the community of Lasa in the district of Chrysochous, Paphos, met a tragic end today when he was crushed by the agricultural tractor he was operating under circumstances that are currently being investigated.
The scene has been cordoned off by the police, whose members are looking into the conditions surrounding this unfortunate incident.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Nicolaou, the elderly man had gone to his orchard in the morning and had not returned home by noon. A relative then searched for him along the routes he typically takes and found him dead in a three-meter deep ravine beside a rural road.
The unfortunate 80-year-old, Mr. Nicolaou stated, was trapped under his tractor and was extricated by the Fire Service. The forensic service is expected to determine the time for conducting the customary autopsy on his body, he noted.
